
WHAT IS A MOISSANITE?

Moissanites were first discovered in 1893 in Arizona, by Henri Moissan and originally came from Meteorites, made up of Silicon Carbide with a hardness of 9.5 on the ‘Mohs’ scale of 10, with the diamond being the hardest material on earth. Its extremely rare. Lab Made Moissanites were first introduced into the jewellery market is 1998. Moissanites, when made into gems, sparkle like diamonds and are virtually undistinguishable from real diamonds. However, they are a fraction of the price of Diamonds. They come in similar grades (Fl for Flawless and VVS1/2 and colours, from D (being the best) to slightly lower grades….E,F etc.
NOTE: Moissanites are Lab Made and more environmentally Friendlier than ‘Mined Diamonds’, so not harmful to the earth plus they avoid issues like ‘Conflict Trade’. Moissanites are traceable and Eco-Friendly.
